Hiding (Unpacking Potential Threat)

Hiding, the third suitcase sculpture is fabric frozen into a suitcase form that sits on a pedestal upholstered with that same fabric. The pedestal’s size is based on the dimensions of three adjacent airport waiting-room chairs. As the suitcase warms, it leaks into the chair’s fabric, crumpling into its curve. With this piece, I exchanged and matched characteristics of the suitcase with its background and vice versa to discuss the insidious quality of suspicion.
